We humbly aim to actively fulfill the religious and cultural needs of the Hindu community in our area. The intent of Sunday Satsangh is to make a divine spiritual connection through kirtans, mantras, havans and arti collectively. This Mandir is a place where all devotees are welcome to take a refuge at the feet of their choice and grow together in spiritual consciousness.
Vishnu Mandir was established on
January 21, 1996 by Pandit Vishnu Sukul and the devotees of the Bronx
Community. This Mandir was established with the aim of educating the devotees
in the ancient and very important way of life - Hinduism.
The spiritual leader of this Mandir is Pandit Vishnu Sukul who was born in Guyana, but immigrated to the USA in 1986 to continue the promotion of the Hindu Religion. As the leader, Panditjee has made the Mandir a beautiful place to pray because the devotees enjoys all discussions on Hinduism.
Each each year, the Mandir celebrates its anniversary with a Yagna. Regular Sunday Satsangh continues throughout the year. This Satsangh is a three and half hour program commencing at 8:00 a.m and concludes at 11:30 a.m.
All important Festivals are observed as the Panchang prescribes. The Festivals are Shiva Raatri, Phagwah, Ram Nowmi, Nowraatri, Raksha Bandhan, Krishan Janam Ashtmi, Deepavali, Seeta Jayanti, Hanuman Jayanti etc. The Mandir also celebrates the Shri Satnarayan Brat Katha and Puja each month on the Purnima Lagna.
The Vishnu Mandir recognizes all religions. The devotees are always willing, ready and prepare to understand that God is one, but he is known by different names. The Upanishad conforms this --EKAM SAD BIPRA BAHUDAA WADANTI.
The Vishnu Mandir hopes that as we approach the new year 2013 each member will become more aware and dedicated to God in order to recieve the tranquility, calmness, peace and Man Kaa Shantih that every human being is aspiring for.
