Chair – Executive Board Message
Jai Shri Krishna:Thanks to all of your support, we had a wonderful first quarter. Spring is usually one of the busiest times in the temple with all of the spring festivals as well as the anniversary celebration. During the anniversary celebration together with some great havanas, abhishekas, poojas and other spiritually uplifting activities, we also held Anand Bazaar. Even though it poured like crazy the entire time, the whole community banded together as a unit to make this a remarkable event. My personal thanks to all of the volunteers, board members and temple staff for their hard work, and to the community for all the support.
This year also marked the fifteenth year anniversary of Pandit Shrinathji’s services to HSNEF. The Board and Advisory Committee are grateful for his services and congratulate him on his tenure; we look forward to many more wonderful years. This also happens to be the fifth year anniversary of Shilpa Joshi’s services to HSNEF and we want to thank her for the professionalism she brings to her position and her willingness to always go the extra mile to help everyone.
The new HSNEF website was also launched during the anniversary celebration. We want to thank SGS Technologies and Mani Perumal for his leadership to make this possible. The HSNEF Secretary recently sent an e-mail detailing step by step process for registration. Please take a moment to register and visit the temple website often to stay updated on upcoming events.
As promised, in the last quarter we worked on redoing the donor-wall. After due diligence, it was decided that at this time instead of completely revamping it, we will update the information on the current wall. The board and staff are working on this and should be sending out an e-mail shortly for your help to make sure it is updated accurately.
Hundi is definitely the biggest and steadiest source of income for our temple. Hundi counting is a team building exercise that I personally enjoy, and I have a tip for all the donors. Please do not fold your bills if possible (just place them straight) as it makes our job a lot easier!
Summer months are usually a little slower in terms of religious festivals and we want to use this time to work on maintenance and other development projects. The Jacksonville Hindu Day camp will be on once again for the seventh year and we look forward to having your children with us and steeping them in our culture.

Bala Vidya Mandir
Bala Vidya Mandir vary in age from 4 to 14+ though even younger children are encouraged to attend to get an early start. The Bala Vidya Mandir is designed to help children learn about Indian culture and heritage and the Hindu religion. They learn lots of Slokas and Bhajans in the class. Pandit Srinathji visits the class once in a while to talk to the children about Hindu religion and Indian culture. In September 2007, as part of the Bala Vidya Mandir, Yoga exercise has been introduced and is being successfully conducted. The children of Bala Vidya Mandir get to chant Slokas and Bhajans in front of the temple congregation on important religious events like
Maha Shivaratri, Sri Ramanavami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Geetha Jayanthi etc.,
This helps them develop self esteem and confidence to
perform in public and overcome stage fright in the early stages.
The Bala Vidya Mandir is successful only because of
dedication on the part of parents who ensure to bring their children regularly
to the classes. The BVM Classes are held on First and Third Sundays of the
month from 10:30am to 11:30am. To enroll, just bring your child(ren) to the
class and fill in a registration form. With all your support I am sure Bala
Vidya Mandir will see thru another decade easily.
