Beliefs
Hinduism refers to a religious mainstream which evolved organically and spread over a large territory marked by significant ethnic and cultural diversity. This mainstream evolved both by innovation from within, and by assimilation of external traditions or cults into the Hindu fold. The result is an enormous variety of religious traditions, ranging from innumerable small, unsophisticated cults to major religious movements with millions of adherents spread over the entire subcontinent. The identification of Hinduism as an independent religion separate from Buddhism or Jainism consequently hinges on the affirmation of its adherents that it is such.
Hinduism conceives the whole world as a single family that deifies the one truth, and therefore it accepts all forms of beliefs and dismisses labels of distinct religions which would imply a division of identity. Hence, Hinduism is devoid of the concepts of apostasy, heresy and blasphemy.
Prominent themes in Hindu beliefs include (but are not restricted to), Dharma (ethics/duties), Samsāra (The continuing cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth), Karma (action and subsequent reaction), Moksha (liberation from samsara), and the various Yogas (paths or practices).

Guru: In Hinduism a Guru is a preceptor giving personal religious instruction. An intellectual or spiritual guide or leader.
Parampara: denotes a succession of teachers and disciples in traditional Indian culture and Indian religions. It is also known as guru-shishya parampara (“succession from guru to disciple”).
The Sanskrit word Parampara means an uninterrupted series, succession, continuation, mediation or tradition. In the traditional residential form of education(gurukul), the shishya(student/protégé) remains with his or her guru as a family member and gets the education as a true learner.
In some traditions there is never more than one active master at the same time in the same guruparamaparya (lineage).
In the Sri Guru parampara, the first guru is the Lord Datta Guru. Subsequent to this Sripada SriVallabha, Nrusimha Saraswati, Manikya prabhu, Akkalkot Maharaj (Swami Samarth), Sadguru Sai Baba of Shiridi and Sri Satya Sai baba of Puttaparthi are known to be the incarnations of this lineage.

About Us

Sri Anagha devi is a tri-murthy-swarupini i.e. a form of Shakti comprising the essence of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma and their consorts Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati.
Sri Anagha devi is the consort of Sri Guru Dattatreya. Sri Guru Datta is a manifestation of the trinity Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva and forms the first Guru whose later incarnations include, SriPada-SriVallabha, Sri Narsimha Saraswati, Sri Akkalakota Swami Samarth, Shiridi Sai baba, and current incarnation Sri SatyaSai baba of Parthi amongst others.
The devi is bestowed with a third eye just like Lord Shiva (Trinetrini). The Rudrakshas, the Trishul (Trident), Jhootam(knotted hair) & Nandi are the indication of Shiva Tatva. She is seated on the Adisesha, wearing the Shankha, Chakra and Naamam as her ornaments indicating the Vishnu Tatva. The Pearl beads & Lotus are the Brahma Tatva.
In the Lakshmi Ashtottara Satanama Stotram, there is a mention of the Anagha Devi as the 32nd name.

“Anugraha Pradaaam Buddhim Anaghaam Hari Vallabhaam
Ashokaam Amrutaam Deeptaam Loka Shoka Vinasinim “

The Lalitha Sahasranama Stotram’s 180th verse also mentions Anagha Devi.

” Yonimudra Trikhandeshi Trigunanba Trikonaga
Anaghadbhuta Charitra Vanchitardha Pradaeini “

We now intend to build a community center/meditation hall/spiritual center from where programs can be delivered. It cannot be achieved by us alone. We need all possible help and co-operation from you and the community.

Since 2009 January, we have the Idol of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba gracing us. To get to Calgary, it was a long process.
Here is the story of the Idols’s arrival to Calgary.

It was in mid 2007, Amma Anagha Devi, through her divine grace and ways, indicated to us that we have to procure idols of Sadgurus of Lord Dattatreya lineage within a certain period of time.
Following the instructions of Amma, we identified various sculptures for various types of idols. For Shirdi Sai Baba’s idol in marble stone, Rajiv Talim (the grandson of Sri BV Talim, who sculpted the statue in Shirdi), Mumbai was selected.
Negotiations for Idol quality, price and delivery period were concluded in August / September 2007. Order was placed and advances released in October / Novemeber 2007. Funds required to procure the idols were raised through donations by devotees in Canada, India and USA.
Procurement of suitable marble block took some time. Finally a marble block from Makarana, Rajasthan was obtained and carving was started in March / April 2008.
It took about 6 months to complete the carving of idol. In the month of November 2008, the idol was prepared for shipment to Calgary. As his customary practice, Rajiv took the idol to Shirdi for inaugural prayers before shipping. Idol sailed for Calgary on 6 December 2008 and reached Sri Anagha Datta Temple on 21 January 2009.
