Kerala Hindu Society of North Texas

Sri Guruvayurappan Temple of Dallas has been built over a foundation of over 25 years of Bhajanas, Satsangs & Namasankritanas. Since 1985,  (till date) members from Kerala Hindu Society of North Texas (KHSNT) continue to meet for a monthly prayer.  KHSNT started with an objective of imparting younger generation Hindu Sprititual and cultural values and holding the Kerala Hindu community united in the metroplex; it went on to lay the foundation for Uniting all the Kerala Hindus across North America in 2001 through the first convention of KHNA.  A year after moving to permanent hall of its own in 2007, KHSNT was blessed to conduct the first Srimad Bhagavata Sapthaham (moolam) in North American continent in the year 2008.  Soon after the 2nd Sapthatham in 2010 conducted by acharyas from Guruvayur (India) Sri Guruvayurappan blessed the whole Dallas metroplex  through this community by buying a 3.4 Acre land in the heart of DFW metroplex, for building the temple and spiritual/cultural hall.
On July 16th 2011,  Sri Guruvayurappan Temple of Dallas has started operations with daily Deeparadhana (7:00PM to 8:00PM) and lots of other daily, weekly poojas and spiritual activities.

History:
Devotees from Kerala Hindu Society has been doing Bhagavata Satsangs every month for years.
In 2006 they were introduced to Srimad Bhagavatam (moolam) through couple of satsangs.
This eventually lead to the First Srimad Bhagavata Sapthaham in North America in year 2008

Our Deity

Our Lord (Krishna vigraha) used  for ‘Nithya Pooja’ at Sri Guruvayurappan Temple of Dallas has reached  Dallas, after PunyaKshethra Darshanam at over 108 temples in India. To best of our knowledge this is the only Sri Krishna in the entire Western Hemisphere who has travelled through all of the Punyabhumi and acquired  this tejas (energy). In most of these temples, the chief priests did a pooja for Unnikrishna (baby krishna) and in may temples like Badrinath, Dwarakadesh, Mumbai Mahalakshmi, Somnath, Vrindavan etc, Unnikrishnan was kept next to the main deity in the poojas at that temple. Unnikrishna was carried to all over these places by great Bhagavata Acharyas, Thanthris, Vedic pundits and more..

Bhooparigraham & Karshanam Poojas 2012

May Lord Guruvayurappan continue to bless us all!!!
1701 Spring Valley Road, Carrollton, Texas (a 3.4 acre) land is spiritually ready to be the future of home Lord Guruvayurappan of Dallas. Bhooparigraham and Karshanam poojas were completed as per poojas Vidihi by Thanthri Brahmasri Kariannur Divakaran Namboodiri and team. On Oct 26th morning, devotees, officials with families did the Acharyavaranam (requesting Acharya for guidance for all Prathishta, poojas and practices) of Sri Kariannur Divakaran Namboodiri. At the Balithookal Pooja later in the evening, prayers were invoked for the acceptance from all Devas for seating Lord Vishnu in this spot. Any existing bad forces (bhootha prethas) were invoked to leave, In the Bhooparigraham & Karshanam poojas (Oct 27th), the temple land was marked with special wood (punna tree) sticks by Thanthri. A 1008 feet long Dharbha grass string made by devotees was put in around this marked block to protect the land and make it ready for temple. The land was tilled traditionally by 2 bulls by thanthri and seeds were sowed by thanthri and all devotees.
Ground breaking of KHS spiritual hall was done by Thanthri and City of Carrollton representative.
The preparations for this event has taken many many days of hard work, dedication, perseverance. We thank all devotees, volunteers committees for their tremendous support for this event.
(Two Texas Longhorn bulls did come in time and did their job right way. Owners of the bull has named bulls – Rama and Krishna)
