New York Kali Mandir, Inc., aka, NYKM is a Hindu Religious non-profit organization registered under section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. All donations to the temple are tax deductible.
NYKM is a community based organization, run and administered by an elected Executive Committee and The Board of Trustee who are also active members of the temple. All officers are also volunteers.
Anyone can join the temple as a member of this volunteer organization whoever accepts Mother Kali as the Divine Mother. To maintain the membership active prescribed yearly dues are required to be paid to the organization for its maintenance.
Goddess Kali is the principal deity of this temple established in 2005 including Lord Shiva following the footprints of Dakshineswar Kali Temple of Kolkata, India. Goddess Durga, Radha-Krishna, Lakshmi-Narayan also added in 2011 and worshipped in the temple.
The temple provides various types of Pujas based on the Hindu calendar and religious rites and it is open 7 days a week to serve the community. Two full time multi-lingual priests are resident employees of this temple. The temple belongs to everyone, there is no individual owner. There is an administrative body comprise of elected unpaid volunteers who runs the temple. Anyone can join the temple and be a member and a volunteer. The governing body encourages people to be a member and serve the community of the temple.

Our Priest

Priest: Mr. Samiran Chakroborty (2011 - present)

Baccalaureate from Burdwan University.
Completed Pourahittya[Yaginiki] from Paschim Banga Vedic Academy of Kolkata.
Previously associated with Sansrit Parisad of Hooghly.
Used to perform regularly all types of Hindu rites [puja] in Hooghly District and almost every nook and corner of Bengal.

Temple Hours

Temple is open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM EST and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST every day. Please call the temple ahead if you are coming to visit the temple, unless it is a special Occasion like a Puja or any festival.

Community Hall

A 2000 sq. feet community hall at 614 Seaman Ave, Baldwin is now available for use by our community members. This is a great facility which is heated, newly painted with ample light and high celling with a skylight. Parking is also available.
There is a stage, a separate meeting room and bathroom. This hall can comfortably accommodate 100 + people, ideal for any cultural events, birthdays, receptions etc.
Donations suggested for maintenance of the hall from those using it.

Direction to the Temple:

By Train
From Penn Station, NYC or Jamaica(Queens) take Babylon Line and get off at Baldwin Station. You can walk or take a taxi to the temple.
By Car
Take exit 20 South from Southern State Parkway
Drive for 1.7 mile, make right turn at Seaman Ave,
(just before Walgreen)
Drive 3-4 blocks and you would find New York Kali Mandir on your left.

Visitors Parking:

The temple has its own parking lot. On most weekends and special occasions, the temple parking premise has enough space to accomodate vehicles used by devotees. On special occasions such as Durga Puja and Kali Puja, road side parking is recommended, though Valet Parking is arranged as well. There are lots of road-side parking available in and around the temple.
There is also a municipal parking lot just three blocks away from temple. Make a right turn from Grand Ave at St. Luke’s Place Street, one block North of Seaman Ave; there is Municipal parking on right hand side.
