What is a retreat?
Retreats at Peace Village have two key components. They are:1. Examination of some of the deeper truths about human nature. We work with the understanding that there is an energy of goodness within us, and that this increases or decreases according to our habits of thought and feeling. Knowing more about our selves, and how we function, gives us the power to think and act more positively.
2. Periods of silence in which to reflect on our higher feelings, values, and purpose in life. Peace of mind, intrinsic to all of us but easily lost when we become trapped in mundane concerns, is restored. This experience helps connect us to an unchanging and infinite source of love and truth.
The aim is to enable participants to recharge their own sense of well-being, and learn how to maintain this strength in everyday life. Lectures, workshops, pure vegetarian food, the beautiful grounds, and a peaceful atmosphere all contribute to the process.
During your stay...
- Study practical aspects of spirituality through classes and workshops.
- Discover new methods to handle life’s challenges.
- Enhance or begin a meditation practice.
- Appreciate time spent in solitude and silence in beautiful surroundings.
- Enjoy the rejuvenating effects of a pure, serene, and spiritual setting with vegetarian meals.
- Meet like-minded people on a similar journey.
- Relax in comfortable rooms with private bath. In most cases, double accommodation is provided.
Peace Village also offers guests the opportunity to stay in a pure, serene, and spiritual environment where vegetarian diet and abstinence from alcohol and cigarettes are observed.
As well as meditation retreats, Peace Village also hosts retreats to serve a broad spectrum of society. Specific groups of professionals come to explore the meaning, relevance, and application of spirituality in their profession. They come from the fields of business, engineering, health, education, social services, science, psychology, and the media.

Contributions at Peace Village
Since 1999, Peace Village has been serving thousands of people based on the principle of heartfelt volunteerism. In addition to the small full time staff of volunteers, a number of servers and facilitators travel here from far distances to support the weekend retreats by offering their time, energy, and skills.During your stay, we provide you with meals: dinner Friday evening through Sunday breakfast. We make every effort to offer you a clean and comfortable room, to maintain our buildings and grounds, and to upgrade the facilities whenever possible.
Our founder, Brahma Baba, felt that there should not be a set cost for people to explore their spirituality. This principle adds to the positive energy and spiritual atmosphere that is found at Peace Village.
We do not charge a fee for our retreats, however, we welcome contributions. People have been deeply moved by the spiritual gifts and insights they have received here, and express what they have gained through their generous contributions.
These contributions are used to sustain the ongoing and expanding operations and services of Peace Village. Contributions to Peace Village may be made by cash, check, and /or credit card. Please ask our staff for additional information about our suggested contribution for individuals and families. Your contributions to Peace Village are tax deductible

Raja Yoga Meditation
Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga is at the core of what we teach. It is an ancient spiritual discipline that can be used for relaxing, refreshing, and clearing the mind and heart, leading to a deeper experience of peace and positivity. It provides us with the spiritual knowledge and practice needed to strengthen ourselves from the inside out. Meditation enables us to embark on an inward journey. This is a journey to the truth of who we really are, beyond our physical identities. We discover the place, just beyond everyday consciousness, where spiritual empowerment begins. Spiritual power makes it possible to choose creative thinking rather than automatic thinking; responding rather than reacting; peace, love, and harmony rather than stress, conflict, and chaos.
An
individual’s spiritual journey consists of three simple steps of the mind:
- the inward journey to reconnect with the spiritual self;
- the upward journey to connect and reclaim our spiritual qualities and strength from God;
- the forward journey to connect with our work and with people to make positive and practical changes.

GETTING AHEAD IN THE KARMA GAME
07-19-2013 - 07-21-2013
This retreat is for those who want to do a deep dive into the subject of karma and how it affects our spiritual efforts at this time. It will take up some big questions: Can we avoid the suffering for our past actions? Can we change our destiny through our present actions? Where does God fit into the picture? Without clarifying answers to questions like these, it is possible to lose hope in the fundamental goodness of human nature and the benevolence of God.Our intention in this retreat is to tune into the signals from the current times and events in order to understand the subtleties of our individual karma and to change the pattern of our collective karma. ('Karma' in Hindi simply means action.) The retreat will aim to help in this process through an interesting blend of conversations, presentations, personal stories, meditation, and conscious activities.

It is often perceived as extremely challenging to integrate spirituality into everyday life, and even to truly recognize the value of doing so. By experiencing tangibly the effect a shift in awareness can have on a simple act of movement, it becomes easier to ‘see’ the impact a spiritual approach can have in all areas of one’s life. This unique retreat integrates the teachings of Raja Yoga with various movement disciplines to promote the ideal state for movement: one that is free of tension, open, aligned, and alive. The result?True, sustainable well-being. Join us as we explore, experience, and empower the innate capacities of body and soul.

The Healing Power of Meditation
08-02-2013 - 08-04-2013
The essence of meditation is a natural experience of healing … the call ofspirit to the peace within. We all have a need for such healing – if we are
honest and look at our own life, we would likely recognize pain, suffering
and darkness in certain areas of our day-to-day living. The deepest repair
to our being is where meditation gives us its greatest gift: the realization
of who we are. With this comes freedom. The ultimate destination of
meditation is the freedom to be the spirit that we truly are.
In this retreat, we will work with the energy of virtues combined with the
power of meditation in order to return to our natural state of total well-being.
Facilitators: Vijai Sadal, Sandra Budge

In facing the demands of a world marked by rapid change and upheaval, we can so easily lose our sense of ‘being’ in the survival strategies of ‘doing.’ In order to create inner stability, it is absolutely essential at this time to know the self and our intrinsic value. We are not glorified machines, but wondrous and unique beings capable of immense beauty and goodness.Through the teachings of Raja Yoga, discover a way to honor yourself and others by staying real and royal while facing the challenges of day-to-day situations and interactions. Recommended for those who are interested in deepening their understanding of how they can truly fulfill their spiritual purpose. Join us and explore the spiritual art of applying peace and happiness to the canvas of your life.
