The Center for
Gayatri Consciousness has been established in Los Angeles California under the
auspices of All World Gayatri Pariwar, India. The primary focus of Gayatri
Pariwar's mission is to foster spirituality in mankind by encouraging the
practice of some simple and practical steps in everyday life. It proposes a
three pronged approach to achieve this - Upasana
(power of prayers), Sadhana (self-refinement through
self-inquiry and discipline), and Aradhana (selfless
service to humanity). The Center for Gayatri Consciousness, also called as
Gayatri Chetna Center, aims to provide a unique environment to facilitate
activities and services which will help inculcate positive thoughts and
spiritual mindset. This center thrives to serve one and all in the community,
regardless of their faith and religious beliefs.

Our Mission
Statement
Mission Statement Explained ...
A simpler explanation of Gayatri
Pariwar's mission statement would be to effect a positive change on the thought
process of all human beings, which would inspire us to lead a spiritual life,
resulting in a better society, prosperous nation, and will bring peace in the
world.
"Construction of a new era through thought revolution, Developing divinity within the mankind; And thus, cultivating a heavenly atmosphere on earth" Our Approach Our belief is that the seemingly Herculean task of "Constructing a new Era" can be achieved by observing some simple and practial guidelines in our daily life. By feeding our mind with positive thoughts, leading a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, and directing our actions towards selfless service to humanity are steps that will help us eventually reach our goal and accomplish our mission. Basic tenets of Gayatri Pariwar's philosophy are-
|
Changing the world (or Era) is a four
step process. Individual Reform => Family Reform => Societal
Development =>World Peace
|
|
The first and foremost principle of
Gayatri Pariwar's philosophy is self reform. Our motto is - "When we
transform ourselves, the world will be transformed. When we reform
ourselves,the world will be reformed."
|
|
Practicing a three pronged approach
of Upasana (striving to stay around a spiritual environment) , Sadhna
(refining self by living a disciplined life) and Aradhna (selfless service to
humanity) in daily life

Bal Sanskaar Shaala –
Information Package
Introduction
Gayatri Consciousness
Center, located in the city of Anaheim CA, is engaged in disseminating the eternal
knowledge of ancient
Vedic scriptures in the community via two fundamental elements of Sanaatan
Dharma - Gayatri, which
means righteous thinking, and Yagya, which means righteous actions. Being
part of a global movement
to transform the world into a heavenly place, where entire humanity would
live in peace, harmony,
and bliss, it aims to achieve that goal by promoting some practical and easy
practices to help
inculcate divinely attributes in mankind. Our belief is that the thoughts are
directly
responsible for the
results one experiences in his or her life, and therefore the key to real joy
and
success in life – both at
material and spiritual level, lies in the fact that our thought process must be
“fixed”. All World
Gayatri Pariwar, our parent organization, has been promoting this very concept
of
“Thought Transformation
Movement” since more than sixty years, which has inspired millions of
ordinary people across
the world to realize their true divinely potential and become flag bearers of
this
noble mission.
Any change in the society
has to first reflect in the people that make it. And to this end, philosophy of
Gayatri Pariwar suggests
starting at the very elementary level – working on self. Once an individual
goes
through reformation, he
or she inspires the immediate family to reform, which then leads to better
society, and eventually
the entire world. In order to expect any positive changes in the society and in
the
world, it is also vital
to groom our children at a young age and provide them with the right
environment
and guidance to nurture
their overall personality. Bal Sanskaar Shaala program, designed with teachings
of Sanaatan Dharma at its
core, aims to do just that. Unlike a typical curriculum based program, it also
strives to impart
knowledge (vidya) in the children, not mere education (shiksha). Knowledge,
which
helps them become better
human beings.
Objectives
Bal Sanskaar Shaala
program aims to achieve following goals-
_ Make children aware of
the heritage of Sanaatan Dharma, and of India
_ Cultivate the virtues of
self-discipline, leadership, compassion and courage in children
_ Develop team spirit, and
provide children opportunities to realize the importance of service
_ Identify, and tap the
talent and energy of children in a constructive way
_ Overall personality
development of children – at mental, physical, and spiritual level

Class Structure
A typical class will look
like following. Focus will be on interactive fun-filled sessions, the goal
being
identification and
nurturing of talent that children possess.
_ Prayer/Simple Meditation
– 10 min
_ Curriculum
(interactive/Q&A/story based session) – 30 min
_ Activities
(outdoor/indoor/games/puzzles/project/debate/presentations) – 40 min
_ Arti and Shantipath – 10 min
Prayer
The class will begin with
Gayatri Mantra and other Mantras, followed by very simple meditation.
Curriculum
This part of the class
will be a “classroom” session where children will be taught about various
subjects
related to Sanaatan
Dharma, Indian Heritage, and Personality Development. Teaching style will be
interactive, and story
based. Some of the topics that would be covered in this session are-
_ Gods and Goddesses: Stories about various
Gods and Goddesses such as Ram, Krishna and
Ganesh would be covered
and explained in lucid manner and relevance of their virtues in day to
day life. Audio/video
techniques will be used to effectively tell these stories.
_ Indian Culture: Major festivals (such as
Shivratri, Holi, Hanuman Jayanti, Krishna Janmashtami,
Navratri, Diwali etc) and
rituals (Yagya, Birthdays, etc) will be discussed and explained in a
scientific manner.
_ Great Personalities: Over the course of the
year the students will learn about several great
personalities such as
Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, and Martin Luther King etc.
_ Kids Corner: This section will focus
mainly on personality development. Children will discuss
their challenges and
experiences from everyday life, and will learn about techniques to handle
those. They will also
learn various positive traits, such as courage, self confidence, compassion,
honesty, through stories,
and interactive question answer format.
Activities
An important aspect of
Bal Sanskaar Shaala is that it is designed as an activity based learning
program.
Children will spend
almost fifty percent of the class time on activities. The activity session will
be
focused on developing
team spirit among children, and will include indoor activities such as games,
arts,
crafts, puzzles, debates,
presentations, as well as outdoor games. Opportunities will also be provided
for
children to participate in field trips and Gayatri
Pariwar’s summer camp.
