About Sai Baba

Sai Baba, one of the foremost sadgurus of India, lived in, Shirdi for 60 years and elevated it to the status of a great spiritual center. Shirdi is located in the state of Maharashtra, India. He never preached, toured or discoursed. He shunned unnecessary publicity. Yet by the sheer brilliance of His spiritual fire he drew innumerable devotees to him from all over the country, irrespective of their caste or creed. He took Samadhi in 1918 (i.e, cast off his physical body). Yet His power to mould and develop his devotees is such that, even more than 50 years after His Samadhi, Sai Baba is still a dynamic spiritual force that countless Indians invoke for their spiritual and material welfare.

Baba’s gospel that He taught by example is that religious and communal differences are meaningless in matters of the spirit. He was the embodiment of dispassion, purity and simplicity and was an enigma to all. None knew His caste, creed or parentage and neither did He think it was important to reveal it. He taught the unity of all religions and the universality of Spirit in all existence. His method of teaching was through direct experience. We urge our readers who are new to the Sai Philosophy to read Sai Satcharitra – the wonderful life and teachings of the supreme master of our age.

Saibaba's Eleven Assurances

Who so ever puts his feet on SHIRDI soil, his sufferings would come to an end.  The wretched and miserable would rise into plenty of joy and happiness, as soon as they climb the steps of DWARAKAMAYEE. I shall be ever active and vigorous even after leaving this earthly body. My tomb shall bless and look to the needs of my devotees. I shall be active and vigorous even from the tomb. My mortal remains would speak from the tomb. I am ever living , to help and guide all who come to me,who surrender to me and who seek refuge in me. If you look to me, I look to you. If you cast your burden on ME, I shall surely bear it. If you seek my advice and help, it shall be given to you at once. There shall be no want in the house of my devotees.
Temple History

Blessings to Sai devotees

Shri Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan LA is an amazing organization that came into existence in less than 4months of conceiving the idea of bringing Sai Baba to LA area. It is believed to be truly miraculous how fast paced the developments took place culminating with first Sai Baba temple in Southern California on January 21st, 2007. Ever since that auspicious day, the number of devotees visiting the temple grew by leaps and bounds.

This miracle is possible only because of the overwhelming devotion displayed by the Sai devotees, volunteers and donors. The temple is in existence because of the devotees who visit regularly in large numbers participating in the religious activities. It is primarily the Sai devotion that translated the idea into a full-fledged temple for Sai Baba. The day-to-day activities in the temple are sustained by community participation of volunteers. They are to support puja, decoration of temple, maintenance of temple surroundings, organizing major events, fund-raising, communication to devotees, financial support, accounting, development and maintenance of web-site and devotee database etc.

One of the primary supports for the temple is obviously financial support. Every single dollar that is donated is extremely important to the temple for its sustenance. There has been overwhelming contribution to the temple fund by numerous donors so far this year. The Sansthan would like to extend heartfelt thanks and blessings from Sai Baba to the donors for being part of the devotional experience of Sai Baba, each individual in their own unique way.

Some devotees might want to donate in kind. So we tell them what the temple needs (through our wish list). We try to see that our wish list is there on information desk and notice board.

Wednesday & Friday
Volunteers Tasks
The cleaning effort is the main one for Wednesday & Friday. There would be very few devotees, so information desk activity would be less. The main task on Wednesday & Friday is having the temple cleaned.

* Using blower outside
* Vacuum cleaner inside ,
* Mopping on white marble around Baba
* Cleaning/arranging kitchen, trash, water filter,
* Garden cleaning - sometimes we find glass and paper and waster lying in our garden

Since lot of devotees start coming from Thursday morning itself, we do not get time on Thursday to clean. The main idea is to clean without interrupting devotees.

Pandit jee / Priest in temple can help locate any/all item needed for the same.

Temple Rules

Maintain silence, decorum and reverence at the Sanctum sanctorum.

· Practice humility at least in the holy atmosphere.
· Maintain absolute silence in the presence of the deity; make your prayers silently. In your enthusiasm to devour the beauty of the divine form in full, do not obstruct the view of those standing behind you. Do not yell out God's holy name too emotionally, as this could disturb other devotees who are silently praying to God. Switch off your cell phone, or leave your cell phone in your vehicle.
A visit to the temple is essentially to get some peace and tranquility in you from your hectic and distracting daily schedules and chores Dress conservatively
A visit to the temple is not same as a visit to the market or a theater.
- Women should dress modestly when going to the temple. Wearing dresses like Saree or Salwar-Khamiz (or Churidar) or full pants.
grown-ups are advised not to wear ‘shorts, bermudas.
- As for men, the general dress code wearing a traditional ‘Dhoti' is desirable.
But even full pants/Pajamas are fine.
grown-ups are advised not to wear ‘shorts, bermudas.

Do not gossip, talk aloud or indulge in fun and frolic inside temple.
The temple atmosphere must help you and others to elevate the minds from the mundane to the spiritual, at least
