Our Objectives Indian Community Centre in Letterkenny is a non-profit organization serving the Indo-Irish community in the North West of Ireland. The objectives of our association are: 1. To promote and provide social, educational and cultural programs which will enable people of Indian heritage understand Indian traditions. 2. To encourage and foster activities that improves mutual understanding and appreciation between the Indian and Irish communities and to promote social integration. 3. To provide a place of worship for people who believe in Hinduism. 4. To raise funds and to employ the funds of the Association in furthering the aims and objectives set out herein and for any other cause as may be deemed appropriate in enhancing the cause of the Indian community. We are open 07.00 pm and 08.30 pm every day. 2.Is the Community Centre registered with the Government bodies? Yes. We are registered with the Revenue department. Our CHY number is CHY 18650. 3. If I would like to contribute monetarily, what are the options I have? You can either pay through Pay pal or setup a direct debit. Please see “Support Us” page. 4.What do I do to receive the communications from the ICCL? Please send a mail to admin@letterkennyindians.ie. 5. What are the benefits of membership? Please see the Membership benefits within the “Membership” page. 6. Who can attend the classes organised by the ICCL and how much is the cost? All the classes organised by the ICCL are open to all and are free. However, if you wish to volunteer for a donation to the Community Centre, please speak to the facilitator. 7. What is the term of the Working Committee? The term of the Working Committee is 1 year. 9.What are the major festivals celebrated in the Community Centre? We celebrate almost all major Indian festivals like Makara Sankranthi, Saraswathi Puja, Maha Shivaratri, Holi, Ramanavami, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Vishu, Tamil New Year, Guru Purnima, Ganesh Chathurthi, Dussehra, Diwali, Christmas and New Year. We also celebrate the Independence day and the Republic day of India. 10.I am not a Hindu. Can I visit the Temple? Yes, the temple is open to all. 11.I am not a member. Can I book the Community Centre hall? Yes. The Community Centre hall can be booked by anyone. If you are an active member of the ICCL, then you would get it for a discounted rate. Please read more information about the Hall bookings on the "Centre Info" Page 12.What purposes will the Community Centre hall be available for rent? The Community Centre hall is available for any social gatherings or lectures. Alcohol and Smoking are strictly not allowed. Please also refer the “Terms and Conditions” that will be sent out after the request for hall is made. We have done fund raisers to raise money for the Cancer Unit in Letterkenny General Hospital and for Donegal Hospice. We are offering classes free of cost for all. The Community Centre: The Community centre started its journey in January 2008 through the generosity and dedicated work by the Indian community in Ireland. Using small yet recurring donations from our many members and generous donations from philanthropist, the temple and community centre have made great progress in the last two years. The Community centre boasts a temple with hindu deities brought from India and a state of art multi purpose hall with kitchen. The temple, kitchen and the multipurpose hall separate units in one office.  Temple  The temple is open all days from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm and is opened by volunteers living in and around Letterkenny. The working committee organizes priest visit to temple for major festivals like ‘Ganesh Chathurthi’ every year. At the temple, you should have the divine experience to offer prayer in peace and we invite you for all Pujas and celebrations in the temple. We request our members and well wishers to visit the temple regularly, participate in Pujas and celebrations and volunteer your time when possible.  Though we depend on donations, we assure you that no one will request you for your donations in the temple premises. The goal is to provide our community a spiritual experience that unites us all.  Multipurpose Hall  The spacious multipurpose hall can seat around 100 guests and facilities include chairs, white board, projector and PA system. The hall can been booked at a nominal cost for business, family and indoor sporting events. The Community centre runs various programs in the halls during evenings on week days and some weekends. If you would like to book the hall or have any suggestions regarding anything you would like to see in our centre, please contact us using our email address or phone number.  Hall Rental Information For costs, scheduling and enquiries for rental, please send an email to admin@letterkennyindians.ie. It may be necessary to provide us with the purpose for renting the hall. The rental fee must be paid within a week after the event. A donation receipt shall be provided on request.  Centre Equipments   The Centre now offers PA system and Projector for rental at an additional cost. Chairs and tables are stacked in the hall, there are approximately 75 chairs and 5 tables. Kitchen   Prior arrangements must be made to use the stove, the refrigerator or freezer. No cooking utensils are available, but serving dishes are provided on request. No toxic pesticides or cleaning agents be used at any time.  Refuse Disposal Labelled refuse containers are provided for refuse disposal. It is part of the centre philosophy that we protect the environment and request paper and plastic be recycled and use the containers only for wet waste only.    Toilet facilities Toilet facilities are shared with other tenants in the same building. As the centre is managed by volunteers, we request our visitors to help us maintain the cleanliness.  ALCOHOL SALE OR CONSUMPTION IS PROHIBITED IN THE CENTRE. Recent Events

Earagail Arts Festival

Indian Community performed the theme "Celtic Mela" under the Inishowen Carnival Group on July 09 (Friday). The parade began at 9 pm near THE GRILL on the Port Road, passed through the Main Street up to the Library and all the way back to THE GRILL. .

Indian Food Day

ICCL organised the Indian Food Day on May 23 (Sunday) in the aid of Irish Red Cross. Authentic Hyderabadi Chicken Briyani along with Fried Egg and Soft drinks were served. In all, 130 food packets were sold and over 400 Euros was raised.

Bag Packing for Alzheimers Society of Ireland

Around 30 volunteers participated in the Bag Packing at Tesco Letterkenny on May 08 (Saturday) in the aid of Alzheimers Society of Ireland and raised 1605 Euros.

Republic Day

60th Indian Republic Day was celebrated on January 26 (Tuesday) in the ICCL Hall. To mark the occasion, National Flag was hoisted at 9 am. Many patriotic citizens participated and took the national pledge to show their respect to our mother land..

Temple 2nd Anniversary Celebrations

To mark the second anniversary of the temple, Sri Narayana homam was performed in the temple on January 19 (Tuesday). This is the first time a homam was performed in the temple premises. Devotees also took part in the homam along with the chanting of Vishnu Sahasra Namavali. . 

Makara Sankranti

Makara Sankranti was celebrated in the temple on January 14 (Thursday). Surya Pooja was performed for Sun GOD. Special Aarti pooja was performed for Lord Ayyappa as it was the day of Mahara Jyoti. Shej Aarti for Lord Sai Baba was also performed.    

High Highness Sri Sri Sriranga Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji's Visit

Sri Swamiji visited Letterkenny between December 30, 2009 and January 06, 2010. Sri Swamiji gave multi media presentations on the very basic existence of mankind at our Community Centre hall. Sri Swamiji performed Samuhika Narayana Kumkumarchana at our temple and blessed the devotees. It was our honour to host Sri Swamiji. The events were very well received by our members, friends and wellwishers.
