The indian culture...the magic culture...
...regarded by some historians as the "oldest living civilization of Earth, the indian tradition dates back to 8000 BC and has a continuous recorded history since the time of the Vedas for over 5,500 years. Indian diverse culture have had a profound impact across the world. India is the birth place of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, collectively known as Indian religions- Dharmic religions -
We are Hindus
Our Dharma is called Hindu Dharma. It is the first religion of mankind...
...We believe in the Vedas. Vedas are the divine revelation to man. The Bhagvad Gita being the foremost scriptures.....We believe in One God Parmeshvar God is one, but has many names to describe his qualities and actions. He is all-pervading 'Sarvanivasi' all-knowing 'Sarvagna' and all-powerful 'Sarvashaktiman'..
Aryans
There is no north or south, but one big country Bharatavarsha or India...
...Himalayas are the highest mountains in the world. They form India´s boundary in the north. And yet, from time to time, even before man learnt how to make ships and aircraft, a large number of people came to this country from the north. These people made use of little gaps in mountains called passes, to cross them. Among the first to arrive were the Aryans. They are believed to have come from the plains of Central Asia. They came as settlers and not as a destroying army..Ramayana
The wonderful story of Rama and Sita is called Ramayana...
...stories of heroes and heroines were
popular among people of all ages, and they continue to be liked by everyone
even to this day. Some scholars believe that the story of Rama´s adventures,
his fights with demons in the forest and with Ravana, the King of
Lanka, is a story of the Aryans slowly moving into south India. Rama was the
eldest son of Dasharatha, the king of Ayodhya..
Mahabharat
It contains 100,000 varses and is the longest poem in the world...
...one of the most famous kingdoms of ancient India was that of the Kurus. They had occupied the area near Delhi and their capital at Hastinapur on the banks of the Ganga. The ruler Dhritarashtra a descendant of Bharta the son of Dushyanta. He was one of the greatest Aryan kings. India is called Bharatvarsha or the land of Bharata after the great Aryan King. Dhritarashtra had a hundred sons, called Kauravas and five nephews called the Pandavas. The most significant part of the Mahabharata is the sacred Bhagavad Gita or the Divine Song. It says that the most important thing is to do one´s duty without worrying about the results. The best way for one to do his duty is to conquer selfishness and desire..
Trimurti
Hindus believe everything is god and contains the divine energy of god...
...there is one main God in Hinduismen, called 'Deity'. Deity is consisting of three major deties or trinitry, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. They are respectively the creator, preserver and destroyer of the universe. They are also aligned as the cosmic mind (Brahma), the cosmic lord (Vishnu) and the transcendent godhead (Shiva). In this regard they are called SAT-TAT-AUM, the Being, the Thatness or immanence and the Word or holy spirit. This is much like the Christian trinity of God as the father, Son and Holy Ghost. The trinitry represents the Divine in its threefold nature and function..Jains
The soul can be made pure by living a balanced life...
...a man must have right faith, right knowledge and right conduct. By right conducted he meant not telling lies, not stealing, not injuring living beings and not being greedy. Extra wealth must be shared with others, by building hospitals for human beings as well as for animals. The threefold virtues to be parctised were called the three jewels or tri-ratnas. Since everything has a soul, much care had to be taken to avoid killing even an ant. Jains avoided walking at night to avoid stepping on insects. This was the new teaching of Ahimsa or non-violence. It meant that no living thing should be hurt..Buddha
The Prince Who Gave Up His Throne...
...one night while his wife slept with their little son in her arms, Siddhartha left his home. He went into the forest to search for a way out of suffering and sorrow for all mankind. Then for six years he denied himself all comfort and kept wandering from place to place. Now Siddhartha decided to think deeply about the things that disturbed him. For forty-nine days he sat meditating under a peepal tree in Bodh Gaya. Then suddenly one day in the year 537 B.C answers came to him. He felt as if he had learned all the secrets of the world. Buddha is one who has bodhi which means knowledge, and become known as Buddha..Sikhism
Tell me a direction where God is not present so I can turn my feet there...
...about the time when Babar invaded India there lived in Punjab a holy man, a great saint, Guru Nanak. He was born in 1469 and was the first of the ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikh religion. As a child he was so precocious and different from other childrens that the people said that they had never seen such a child. At school he learnt things so fast that the teacher thought he was a genius and would be grow up to be a great man.The Guru lived at the village of Kartapur till his death in 1539. His follwers came to be known as Sikhs. Guru Nanak´s teachings are written down in a book called the Adi Granth, which is the Holy Book of the Sikhs. ..India
Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny...
...and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869. He´s way of fighting without violence for what one believed to be right called Satyagraha which means the force of truth. To Gandhi, satya (truth) and ahimsa (non-violence) were the most important things in life. "If I am a follower of Ahimsa , I must love my enemy"..National Anthem
Thou Art the Ruler of All Minds...
...Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he Bharata-bhagya-vidhata. Punjab-Sindh-Gujarat-Maratha Dravida-Utkala-Banga Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga Uchchala-Jaladhi-taranga.
