What is The American Hindu
Association (AHA)?
The American Hindu Association
(AHA) is a non-profit organization founded under 501 (C) (3) to serve Hindus.
This Association was established in July of 1997 with the initiative of a few
devotees. The devotees attending weekly services are from various countries
including Canada, India, Malaysia,
Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the United States. AHA has provided
excellence service to the community in the areas of religious, social, and
educational affairs since 1997. All activities are accomplished through the
voluntary efforts of devotees.
Vision
As our community has grown, it
has become increasingly evident that we need a facility that is large enough to
accommodate our activities. More recently, AHA has acquired seven acres of land
for the construction of Hindu Temple and Cultural
Center. The property is
located in the heart of Madison-Wisconsin at 2138 South Fish Hatchery Road. Future
building will be named “Hindu
Temple and Cultural
Center of Wisconsin? (registered with IRS).
Our vision is to have an
authentic Hindu Temple to perform religious activity
with a community center to support community activities in the aquired land by
year of 2015
Mission
The primary mission of AHA is to
teach the rich spiritual heritage of Hindu philosophy to devotees of all ages.
This Association intends to provide the leadership and resources for the Hindu
community, especially among the young generations. More specifically this
Association intends to:
1.
Provide services to devotees and
children, promoting the awareness of principles and practices of Hinduism.
2.
Conduct regular weekly puja, bhajans,
discussions on Hinduism, etc.
3.
Invite Hindu teachers and scholars to
present topics on Hinduism, enhancing our understanding of it.
4.
Sponsor religious festivals such as
Makar Sankranti/Pongal, Mahashivratri, Srikrishna Janmasthmi, Deepawali, and
other events.
5.
Promote yoga and meditation as
prescribed in Hindu scriptures.
6.
Bring all religious organizations under
one roof to establish a strong Hindu Community.
7.
Seek active participation, guidance and
support from the community members in our ambitious journey for our community.
Support
All AHA services are free of
charge. The Association has a policy generating the most of the contributions
for the construction of the Hindu Temple and Cultural
Center. Besides the
regular contribution, any individual can make a special contribution and
designate their donation for any new or existing project of their choice.
Currently, programs are offered under the following general categories:
1.
AHA Educational Fund (Teaching Hinduism,
yoga, meditation plus math, language etc)
2.
AHA Hindu Festival Fund
3.
AHA Building Fund (This is a fund to use
for construction of the Hindu Temple and Cultural
Center)

AHA_Bala_Viha
Dear Friends, American Hindu
Association is proud to announce AHA_Bala_Vihar classes for kids every Sunday
from 10am to 11:15am at temple. It is a wonderful opportunity for kids and
youth to learn and practice Hindu way of life, develop social awareness and
leadership skills among children while having fun.
What is AHA_Bala_Vihar?
AHA_Bala_Vihar is the place where
a seemingly an ordinary cowherd boy blossomed in to a divine incarnation. It is
here that Krishna's magical days of childhood
were spent and his powers came to be recognized. Every child has that spark of
divinity within. AHA_Bala_Vihar is a forum for children to discover and
manifest that divinity. AHA_Bala_Vihar will enable Hindu children in US to
appreciate their cultural roots, learn Hindu values in an enjoyable manner and
make good friends. They will also develop a sense of Seva, Service to
humankind.
Our Goal is.
To facilitate children to appreciate, learn and practice Hindu way of
life.
Instill pride and confidence in Hindu children about their identity.
Raise Hindu awareness in the society around.
Develop social awareness and leadership skills among children
Activities: Children will have
lots of fun while they learn. Activities are planned for their physical,
intellectual, social and spiritual development. Weekly activities include: Games,
Yoga, Vedas, Stories, Bhajans, Shlokas, Mantras, Sanskrit, Bhagvad Gita, Arts
and Crafts and many more.
Festivals: Hindu Festivals like
Ganesh Pooja, Holi, Janmashtami, and Shivaratri are celebrated with a special
focus on children's participation. Children will perform the pooja themselves
and the meaning behind the festivals is explained.
AHA Camp: Vacation can be
magical. That's the time to explore, enjoy and make more friends. Annually, we
conduct AHA Camp
Community Service: Sewa or
service is the best way for us to realize the divinity in all and serve the
needy. We plan to take Children from AHA_Bala_Vihar to visit elderly people in
convalescent hospital or any appropriate activities
