OPENING TIMES:
Daily : 6.45am to 8.30am, then 11.30am to 12.15pm, then 6.30 to 8.15pm.

Our resident priest (panditji) is Shree Sharadbhai Bhatt. He performs all religious ceremonies in the mandir. If you require his services, he can be contacted on 01922 646629.

     About

Shree Ram Mandir (Walsall) is a Hindu temple (mandir) and community Centre serving the needs of the Hindu Community in the Walsall and surrounding area. It was purpose built, and we officially opened with a ‘pran pratistha’ installing the deities of Ram Darbar – (Lord Ram, Sita, Laxman & Hanumanji), Shiv Pariwaar- Lord Shiva (Shiv Lingham), Parvati & Lord Ganesh), Maa,Santoshi Maa, Jalaram Bapa, & Hanumanji on 25-27th May 1991.
We subsequently installed the deities of Radha Krishna, Amba (Durga), & Vishwakarma dada in May 1994. We celebrate all Hindu festivals throughout the year. See our calendar for details. We are a registered charity no.514652.

Morning  Aarti is performed at 8.00 am.
Afternoon ‘thaal’ is offered at 12.00 noon.
Evening aarti is performed at  7.00pm.
The Community Centre is open every evening 6.45 to 8.30pm on most days.
We also hire out the community hall for weddings. Please contact us during our opening hours for further details.
We offer a conference room for meetings. Details of the rates and availability are available from our treasurer.

Our Objectives

The charity has a constitution, which has recently been amended to reflect the range of its activities
1.      To advance the understanding of the Hindu religion, raise awareness of its values and culture
2.    To raise the educational status and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, recreation and leisure time activities.
3.    To provide financial & other support to communities devastated by natural & other disasters locally and in all parts of the world.
Committee:
The mandir and the community centre is run by volunteers consisting of 5 Holding Trustees of which Dahyabhai J Patel is now the Chairman, 9 Executive members consisting of President, Vice & Deputy, Secretary & 2 assistants, Treasurer & 2 assistants and 16 committee members. President – Shree Amratlal J Mistry, Secretary- Shree Vasantlal K Mistry, Treasurers – Shree Morarji  B Patel; Mr Balubhai D Mistry & Ramanbhai B Patel

President

Mr Amratlal J Mistry has been President since 2005. Amratlal has overall responsibility for the organisation. Vice President: Pravinbhai L Mistry & Dep Vice President: Pravinbhai J Rana.

Secretary

Mr Vasant K Mistry was treasurer until 2005, when he was selected to look after the role of Secretary.Vasant deals with all correspondence, organises committee meetings, and keeps minutes of all meetings. Asst Secretary: Pravinbhai D Patel, Dep Asst Secretary: Jagubhai N Patel.

Treasurers

MrMorarji B Patel & Balubhai  D Mistry & Ramanbhai B Patel look after the treasury functions, and maintain the financial records.

Trustees

Trustees are: Dahyabhai J Patel; Narshibhai M Patel; Morarbhai S Patel; Dr Jayantibhai D Paw & Kantilal B Patel.

Campaign News

The Mandir & community provides a base for the following organisations. If you wish to join any of the organisations, please either call in in person, and ask for the contact person.
1) Over 60′s club. Contact:- Mr Ramanbhai B Patel/ Balubhai D Mistry on Wednesday morning at 10.30am to 12.00 noon.
2) S & J Stars – Bollywood dancing – Contact -Jaimal P Mistry, Sheilaben P Mistry, or Pravinbhai L Mistry by calling in on Wednesdays at 7.30pm.
3) Badminton Club runs every Monday from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. There is a small subscription to pay, and anyone can register to join the club and play.
4) Bhartiya Mahila Mandal – Women’s forum – Contact Mrs Paw, Mrs Indiraben B Bhatt. Meet every Tuesday 7.00pm to 9.00pm
5) Walsall Youth Club – Contact Dhiren Rana, Jay Patel, Dimple Patel or Jagruti Patel Meet every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Age up to 12 years.
6) Shishukunj- This is for children under 10, who come into the Mandir, every sunday morning  with their parents. They are taught about the Hindu religion, about the gods, their names, and learn some mantras as well. The group is headed by Mahendrabhai Lad who is very passionate about what he wants to achieve for our new generation. Everyone  is welcome to join in.
7) Gujarati Classes for beginners, runs on Saturday from 1.00pm. to 2.30, and 2.30pm to 4.00pm. Contact Mahendrabhai Lad via the mandir.
8) Our new project to start gujarati classes for Adults has also begun and we are looking for new recruits, so why not join in. Classes proposed to be held on Friday evenings from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. At least you will be able to help your children with their homework if they attend the childrens’ classes on Saturday. This will be up to GCSC level so the qualification will not be wasted.
9) We have installed a new Sinhasen for Ram Darbar which looks really fabulous. Why not come and have a look for yourself, and get the benefit of darshan of our mandir. We will be uploading some new photographs of the mandir soon. Please check this site for updates.
10) If you arethinking of keeping fit by doing some Yoga, please contact Hansaben Patel /Kajalben Paw to obtain details of the classes that you can join, or call into the mandir office any evening after 7.30pm to enquire, and enrol for the course. Classes run every Thursday 7.00 pm to 8.30pm.
Wedding Hall Registration: 
 If you have a wedding coming up, and wish to book the wedding hall, come and see us in the evenings (Mon- Thurs 7.30pm to 8.30pm.). We also provide a civil wedding (Registration) facility which is conducted straight  after the mangal fera of the Hindu wedding ceremony. Shree Ram Mandir (Walsall) is an authorised place for the conduct of civil wedding ceremonies. We regret that this facility is only available after Hindu wedding ceremonies conducted in our mandir, on the day.

The Youth

Shree Ram Mandir youth club now takes place every Wednesday from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. Join us and take part in the various sporting activities. for more information, contact Jay Patel, Dhiren Rana, Dimple Patel or Jagruti Patel.

We have organised a Health Information event with Archana Jain, co-founder of Disease Free World, who will give information on alternative therapies for various conditions, based on a book called
‘Health the Complimentary Way’
If you are looking for a new insight into how you can naturally manage your health, then this workshop is for you. Please see attached poster for further details

Friday 8th August: Another workshop aimed at anyone suffering from Arthritis, and titled ‘Healing Arthritis’

 Jalaram Jayanti- Thursday 30th October 2014

Jalaram jayanti falls on Thursday 30th October 2014. As is usual we shall be celebrating the birthday of this Saint on Saturday 1st November. The full programme will be publicised by way of a leaflet drop to all households that have registered with us. Anyone wishing to be added to the posting list should provide their full name and address either by coming into the Mandir office and giving the details to a member of the committee, or alternativly by e-mail through ghscc2000@yahoo.co.uk.
The Jalaram Jayanti programme on Saturday will start with a puja, at 9.00am., and anyone wishing to participate should contact our pujari Shree Sharadbhai Bhatt on 01922 646629. Bhajan kirten by our resident bhajan mandal will take place in the afternoon until 4.00pm Bhojan prasadi will be served at 1.00pm.

Diwali & New Year Celebrations- Thursday/Friday 23rd/24th October 2014

Diwali on Thursday 23rd October 2014 – There will be Chopda pujan for our business men and women in the mandir at 7.30pm to 10.00 pm. If you are interested in taking part contact our pujari (Sharadbhai Bhatt) on 01922 646629.
New year celebration on Friday 24th October 2014. There will be aan koot (56+ varieties of foods offered to the gods) If you want to bring an item of food contact us to see the list of food items that you could make and bring which will be noted by Vasantbhai/ Amratbhai Mistry. 01922 634462 after 7.30pm during Norta.
There will also be an entertainment programme that evening at 7.45pm in our Community Hall. Entry is free. Do come and support our children who have practised very hard for their dance routines.

Sharad Poonam – Wednesday 8th October 2014

Sharad Poonam is the 15th day from the start of Navratri. It is celebrated in the mandir with Garba and Dandya raas.

Navratri- Thursday 25th September to Friday 3rd October 2014


Navratri is more commonly known as the Festival of Nine Nights, when devotees dance and sing garba, and also play dandya Raas. The festival depicts the triumph of good over evil when all the goddesses came to the rescue of their devotees to fight evil. Durga Astami ( the eighth day) is celebrated by devotees participating in Havan which will take place on Thursday 2nd October 2014 at approx. 9.30- 2.30pm.
Please note that for Aatham ONLY, we have taken the step of allowing the 9pm. aarti to be performed only upon receiving a donation for £5.25 in exchange for a token which must be surrendered for an aarti thali. The purpose of this is to manage the sheer numbers of people who want to participate, and to ensure that we are able to maintain the safety of all our devotees.

Ganesh Chaturthi- Friday 29th August 2014


Whenever there is an auspicious event taking place in the Hindu home or business, we always remember Lord Ganesh. Lord Ganesh is considered to be wise and knowledgeable, and bringer of good luck.Worshipping Lord Ganesh brings good fortune and success in any new venture undertaken. Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with a puja in the mandir after evening aarti at approx. 7.30pm.

Janmastami- Sunday 17th August 2014


Janmastami is the celebration of the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. He is depicted in the picture with his consort Radha, and her name is always chanted before that of Krishna.
Janmastami will be celebrated in the mandir, with a puja after the evening aarti, at approx 7.30pm, with Bhajan kirten until midnight when he is born. Devotees get the opportunity to rock the cradle, and take darshan of baby krishna.

Walsall Hindu Forum

Walsall Hindu Forum is an umbrella organisation which is the voice of the Hindu Community in Walsall. It has representatives, who are nominatedby members of all samaj organisations, and other voluntary bodies.
