Krishna Club
Children experience an exciting and
active learning environment when they come to Krishna Club, held on Sundays.
They will begin each session with
mantra meditation - kirtan, accompanied with some music. Each session has a mix
of arts and craft, story telling, drama and celebrations of major festivals.
The children enjoy singing and learning sanskrit prayers as well practical
skills for living Vaishnava culture. There are number of other activities
during the week, for more imformation about this or anything else please email krishnaclub@iskconleicester.org.
Leicester Rathayatra
Please accept my
humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
It is now only a few weeks until the wonderful and joyous celebration of Rathayatra takes place in Leicester - and this year's celebration promises to be the most spectacular yet!
For the very first time in the history of Rathayatra in this country, Lord Jagannath, Baladev and Subadra will descend the temple steps and be welcomed onto the chariot outside the temple on Bishop Street, where the procession will start. This unique event will celebrated with pomp and grandeur akin to that of the Rathayatra in Jagannath Puri - this is an event not to be missed!
Dancers will greet Their Lordships with a very special performance of the Das-avatar dance, whilst the departure of The Lord from the temple will be honoured with great fanfare with the joyous sound of kirtan and gongs, drums and conches to signify the very special journey the Lord will make leaving the temple.
Rathayatra has been celebrated in the UK for almost fifty years - but our celebrations promise to be a unique spectacle for all devotees to take part in. Please ensure that you arrive by 9.30am at the temple to participate in this procession.
Once the Lord is sitting on His chariot (there will only be one chariot), He will be offered bhoga and arti. Dignitaries, such as the City Mayor will inaugurate the Rathayatra procession at 12noon. Then with kirtan, dancing and lots of pulling, the Lord will ride through the City down to Cossington Park.
The festival will continue at Cossington Park until 7pm.
