Sthlapuranam
:
In
this sthalam, the Perumal, Sri Padmanabha Swamy, who is also called as
"Thamarai Manaalan", is found in Kidantha thirukkolam in Sayana
position, sleeping on top of Aadhiseshan, who is also referred to as "Ananthan".
Since the Perumal is found in Sayana postion on Ananthan, the Perumal is called
as "Anantha Padmanabha Swamy" and the Kshtram is referred to as
"Thiru Ananthapuram".
The
Anantha Padmanabha Perumal is found in Sayana Kolam and since the Perumal is
too big is structure, we can get the Dharshan of the Perumal in a single way.
We can onl ysee him in 3 Vaayils (entrance).
1. Through the First
Vaasal, we can see the Thirumugham (Face) of the Perumal.
2. Through the First Vaasal,
the Thiru Unndhi (stomach part) can be seen and
3. Through the Final,
Third Vaasal, we can see the Thiruvadi (feet) of the Perumal found in the
Garbhagraham.
The
entire world is Governed and Protected by Emperumaan, Sriman Narayanan. The
Indira Lokam (or) otherwise called as "Swargham" is ruled by Indiran
and Varunan, the rain god is one of the important person who belong to the
Indra Lokam.
The
rain God, Varunan is necessary for giving the rain to this entire world and
thereby making the land fertile and rich in its wealth.
Similarly,
Indiran is necessary for making all the Grahans (the planets) to revolve and as
a result of its revolvement, he should calculate the days count and thereby
making the people live and make them happy. Likewise, Ekadasa Rudrars, who are
the hamsam of Lord Shivan, the Rudran. All these 3 persons (ie) Indiran,
Varunan and Ekadasa Rudrars are given the sabham of doing some wrong things at
certain stages.
All
these 3 persons are given the Sabha Vimocchanam (getting out from the sabham)
by the Anantha Padmanabha Perumal of this sthalam who can be seen through 3
vaasals and each vaasal explaining the 3 stages (ie) the birth, the leading of
life and the final stage, the death.
We
know that the Dharshan of the Perumal can be seen separately in 3 different
Vaasals. Let us now get into details why the Perumal is giving his seva in this
kind. The lifetime of a Person is segregatted into 3 different stages (ie)
First is the birth; Second is the time where the life progresses and Final third
stage is the death.
Through
the First vaasal, we can get the Dharshan of the Perumal's Thirumugham. The
Perumal, through his divine eyes, which is referred to as the "Thaamarai
Kangal" (eyes that is referred to Lotus Flower) is seeing all the lifes of
the Jeevathmaas and thereby making them to survive and lead their lifetime.
Through
the Second vaasal, we can see the "Thiru Unndhi" which is otherwise
called as the lowerpart of the stomach. This place is said to be originated
place of Lord Brahma devan, who is responsible for giving birth to the
Jeevathmaas.
In
the Third vaasal, we can see the Thiruvadi (feet) of the Perumal, which is the
final place where all of the Jeevathmaas merge towards Paramathma. The
Thiruvadi of the Perumal is said to be the safest and the pure place, where all
the pure rivers originates.
How,
all the small rivers join (or) merge towards the ocean, all the Jeevaraasi
merge towards Thiruvadi (or) Thirupaadham of the Emperumaan, Sriman Narayanan.
Periya pirattiyaar, with the name of Kadal Magal Naachiyaar who is found in
Thiruppaarkadal in Veetrirundha thriukkolam along with Anantha Padmanabha
Perumal is found in this sthalam.
Once,
there was a saint by named "Divakara yogi", who wanted to get the
Mukthi (the ultimate destiny, the moksha) and to attain it, he did the pooja to
Saligramam (a precious and Valuable spritiual stone) in this sthalam. At that
time, the Perumal came there like a two years old child and took the Saligramam
along with him and ran away from that place. On seeing this action of the
child, the saint got angry and chased him to get the Saligramam. And finally,
the small child went into the big hole of a tree and after going inside the
tree, the tree fell down and the Perumal gave his sayana seva as Anantha Padmanabha
Swamy. He gave the seva for which the saint, Divakara yogi was doing the daily
pooja. This is one of the historic story said about this sthalam.
This
story which is said about this sthalam has a closer resemblance with the
Perumal, who is found in Thirukkannankudi in Chozha Naadu. Like wise in this
sthalam, the Perumal who came like a small child who took the Saligramam
resembled like a small kid and ate the Perumal who is made of the white butter
which doesnt melt. The Perumal who is made of butter, is the Perumal who is
done with daily poojas by Vashistar. Finally along with other Maharishis, they
caught the small kid, who then gave his seva as "Damodharan" and that
Perumal is also named as "Siyamala Meni Perumal", in Nindra Thirukkolam.
To
explain more on this, a Hanuman Sannadhi is found in front of Yoga Narasimhar
sannadhi in this temple. Here, the Special kolam, the Vennai Kaappu kolam for
Hanumar is done and it is said that this butter doesnt melt even in hot days.
Separate
sannadhis for Yoga Narasimhar, Hanuman, Lakshmi Varaghar, Sri Krishnar and Sri
Srinivasar are found and are said to be most powerful gods with lots of powers.

Nammalwar in Thirukkurugoor, Azhwar Thirunagari.
Udayanangai's

Kerala state. It is found close to Idappalli. when going in train, we have to

Sthlapuranam
:
This
sthala Emperumaan, Kaatkarai Appan is worshipped by the people treating him as
the Hamsam of Vaamanar. They take a very big utsavam for this perumal during
the Onam festival.
Kerala
is famous for Bananas and especially for a particular typed by named
"Nenthiram". This banana has a closer relationship with this sthala
perumal. Once, a bhaktar of the perumal, had a big land where the banana trees
are planted. But, it doesnt give him any yield and doesnt give him any bananas.
The devotee at that felt that it might be some wrong thing he might have done
and as a result of this only, the trees are not giving him the proper yield.
So, he decided, the sight of the perumal fell on banana trees and from that time,
it gave him lots of yield. Seen by the Kaatkarai appan's Nethira eyes, the
yield was very high and because of this, the bananas are named as
"Nethiram Pazham".
The
Golden bananas which are dedicated towards Kaatkarai appan lost one day and the
king on hearing this, blammed for the lost on a Yogi, who doesnt know anything
about it. He punished the yogi and treated him badly. But, the golden bananas
were found inside the Garbhagriham of Moolavar sannadhi. On knowing this, the
Yogi got angry and gave the sabham for the time, since he was caught as the
thief only because of the time and after giving the sabham, he suicided and
dead. But, his soul doesnt leave the world but it turned into a Brahma
Raatshasan and roamed in the world.
To
get out of the Sabham, as suggested by himself (the Yogi who is in the form of
the Raatshasan), constructed a bamboo roof and destroyed it using the fire in
this sthalam and thereby from the bright fire that comes out from the bamboo
would ride away the sabham of the Yogi. After this, they all did the same thing
suggested by the Yogi to ride away the sabham. As a result of this, a small
temple was constructed for the Yogi and daily poojas are done to make him cool.
This is one of the purana (older) history told about this sthalam.
Kaatkarai
Appan gave his prathyaksham for Kapila munivar. Kapila munivar was born as as
the son for Karthama Prasapathi and Devabhoothi and he is said to be the hamsam
of Vishnu. He explained the Gnana thathuvam for his mother itself. He was given
space to do his daily Tapas by Samuthira rajan.
Once,
Indiran grabbed the horse of Sakaraas and tied the horse behind the hut of
Kapila muni. Thinking that Kapila muni has made a theft of taking the horse
towards himself, the Sakaraas blammed upon Kapila muni. But, on hearing the
blamming words from them, he got angry and made them into ash by his firing
vision.
After
this, Bakeerathan, got the Ganga water from
Lord Shiva and poured on the ash of Sakaraas to make them to get the mukthi.
Having this kind of greatness person is Kapila muni, who was given the
prathyaksham of the perumal.

Sthlapuranam
:
In
this sthalam, there is no separate sannadhi for Thaayar. Only, Bhagavadhi Amman
sannadhi is found. Near to this sthalam, the Aalvaai river is found. The
speciality of this sthalam is during the time of pooja done for the perumal,
there is no music instrument are played. It is said that all the temple's
Gopuram, Mandapan and pragharam of this sthalam are built by Lakshmanan
(brother of Sri Ramar) and he did various service to this temple.
During
Ramayana, on hearing that Sri Ramar had been sent to the forest, Bharadan went
in search of him to return him to Ayodhya for doing Pattabishekam for him. On
seeing Bharadan coming from Ayodhya, Lakshmanan got angry with him and tried to
kill him. Since, because of this bad thought and sinful act, to get out the
sin, Lakshmanan served and got the seva of this sthala Emperumaan,
Moozhikkalathaan.
At
that time, it is said Bharadhan arised in this sthalam and higged each other
and spoke various nice and beautiful words (Mozhi). Mozhi means the languages
what we speak. Since, they transferred beautiful languages (Mozhi) with each
other, this sthalam is named languages (Mozhi) with each other, this sthalam is
named as "Thirumozhikkalam" and later changed to
"Thirumoozhikkalam".
It
is said this sthalaperumal is said to Laksmanan. There is a great explaination
about this sthalaperumal. Generally, if a person does any bad things (or) sin,
he should not be the person who can give justice to it.
If
a person does any sin, he should accept that and should be in a position to
accept the punishment and should feel for it. The person should do proper
prayasiktham (an action performed after a sin is made to make the perumal
satisfied). Likewise, Lakshmanan due to his sin made against Bharadhan, is seen
as the Moozhikkalathaan on the banks of Aalvaai river. This sthalam is said to
be the sthalam where the Paava Mannippu (the sthalam where the sin of
Lakshmanan is apologized by Bharadhan). The perumal gave his prathyaksham for
Vishwamitra Maharishi son Aareetha Maharishi. In this sthalam only, the great
Sri Sakthi Mantram is explained by the perumal.
Moolavar:
The Moolavar of this sthalam is Thirumoozhikkalathaan. The Perumal is also named as Appan, Sri Sukthinathapperumal.

Specials:
The
speciality of this sthalam is this sthalam is constructed and built by Bhiman,
one of the Panja - Paandavaas.
Sthlapuranam
:
It
is said that this sthalam is constructed and built by Bhiman, one of the Panja
- Paandavaas. He worshipped this sthalaperumal, Maayapiraan. Sapta Rishis -
Atthri, Vasishtar, Kaasyapar, Gouthamar, Bharadwajar, Vishwamitrar and
Jamathakkini got the seva of this Maayapiraan along with porkodi Naachiyaar and
through Indiran, it is said that all these Sapta Rishis got their Mukti towards
the Emperumaan.
Once,
Virukshadharbi, who was the son of Sibhi Chakravarthy, ruled an empire where
there was flood and there was no proper vegetation and the wealth and the
beauty of the entire empire seems to be decreasing. At that time, the king
thought, if any Dhaanam (things that are given to any rishis, Andhanars (or)
devotees to increase any thing) is given to Sapta Rishis, it might increase the
wealth and beauty of the Empire. As a result of this, he thought of giving the
Dhaanam to Saptha rishis. But, Sapta Rishis did not accept his Dhaanam, Since
if any flood (or) decrease in the wealth and health in the entire empire is due
to some reasons of the ruling king. So, they found some problem might by with
virukshadherbi and did not accept the Dhaanam.
But,
he wants them to accept his Dhaanam, and as a result of this, he asks his
palace officials to keep some gold inside the fruits and give them that, so
that they will accept that and simultaneously his Dhaanam is also accepted.
But, knowing the truth that some golds are placed inside the fruit through
their Gnana Dhirusti, they did not accept the fruits also.
After
the fruits which are given as Dhaanam is being rejected by the Sapta Rishis,
Virukshadharbi got angry on all 7 rishis and tried them to kill and as a result
of this cruel mind, he started an Yaagm in which a lady pisaasu (Arakki - lady
demon) by named "Kiruthyai" arised and he ordered the demon to kill
all the sapta Rishis.
But,
knowing this, the Emperumaan send Indiran to destroy the Kiruthyai Arakki and
there by protecting Sapta Rishis. Likewise, Indiran killed the demon and all
the Sapta Rishis got the seva of the Emperumaan and got their Mukthi.
This

Balagars, on either side, we can also find a Ganapathy statue on the walls of
the pragharam.

This

people. This temple is also called as "Perumal Temple
(kovil)" and "Vishnu temple (kovil)".
The
perumal took the Mohini Avathaaram to protect Lord Shivan from Padmaasuram.
Once, there lived an Asuran (Demon) by named "Sugan". He had a son by
Padmaasuran. He got many varams by doing various tapas. Likewise, he got a
peculiar Varam from Lord Shiva that if anyones head is touched over anyones
head, he should be turned into ash.
After
getting the Varam, he wanted to kill Lord Shivan who gave him the Varam and ran
from him and secked the help from Sriman Narayanan. Even the Deva Loga
Kanniyars like Rambai, Oorvasi, Thilothamai tried to change his concentration
by showing their presence infront of him. But, they feared to come infront of
him because they thought he might put his hand on their heads. At that time,
Sriman Narayanan took the most beautiful Mohini Avathaar and came infront of
Padmaasuran. On seeing the beauty of the Mohini, he stood without moving and
wanted to get the happiness of her beauty. At that time, the Mohini who was
actually Sriman Narayanan, said after having the oil bath, he can get the
happiness from her.
On
hearing this, Padmaasuran felt very happy and went towards the tank
(Pushkarani) to have the oil bath. As soon as he applied the oil on his head,
his hand touched his head and at that second, he was turned to ash. And
finally, Sriman Narayanan who took the Mohini Avathaar saved Lord Shivan. At
that time, Sriman Narayanan gave his prathyaksham for Rudhran (Lord Shivan).
This
sthala perumal is Imayavarappan, found in Nindra thirukkolam facing towards

giving his blessings and seva in the father Sthanam (stage).
To
explain that Lord Shiva and Sriman Narayanan are equal, a very big shivan
temple is also found in this sthalam. The speciality of this sthalam is that
Dharman, one of the Pandavas worked in raising this temple and did lots of
spiritual works in developing the temple.
During
Bharatha war (in Mahabharatham), Ashwathaman, son of Dronar was against
Pandavas and found along with Dhuriyodhanan. At that time, Dharman in his loud
voice said Ashwathaman was killed. But actually Ashwathaman is one of an
elephant in the war land and at the end, he told in a mild voice that it is an
elephant. On hearing in the loud voice, Dronar thought his son Ashwathaman was
killed and died at that place. But, Dharmar was not happy of his action and
wanted to do some satisfactory things and as a result of this he came to this
sthalam and to get out of sinful action he has performed, he worked in raising
the temple and worshipped Imayavarappan, the perumal of this sthalam.

Thiru Naavaay - Sri Naavaay Mugundha Perumal Temple
Temple Location :
About
the Temple:
This
sthalam is situated 1 mile away from Edakkulam railway station in Kerala. We
can also reach this sthalam by travelling through bus from Shoraanoor to
Kuttipuram. This sthalam is a small village and as a result, there is no plenty
of staying facility. This sthalam is found on the shore of Bharathappuzhi
river which is found 1 mile away from Edakkulam along the south direction.
Specials:
The
speciality of this sthalam is the thaayar Periya Pirattiyar Lakshmi devi is
found in a separate sannadhi and it is one of the speciality among the Malayala
Naatu Divyadesam
Sthlapuranam
:
The
sthala perumal, Naavaay Mugundhan is found in Nindra Thirukkolam along shore of Bharathappuzhai river. The speciality of
this sthalam is the thaayar Periya Pirattiyar Lakshmi devi is found in a
separate sannadhi and it is one of the speciality among the Malayala Naatu Divyadesam.
Opposite
to the Bharathappuzhai river, a separate temple for Lord Shivan and Brahma
devan are found. So, we can get the seva of all the Mum Moorthees in this Thiru
Naavaay divya desam.
The
piratti, Lakshmi devi and Gajendran (the elephant) worshipped the perumal and
dedicated him with the Lotus flowers found in the Lake.
But, Lakshmi devi was jealous and angry on the Gajendran since he also dedicate
the flowers to his perumal, who thinks that the perumal is only for him. But,
perumal who can know all about this, wanted to make clear to his wife, Lakshmi
devi that she is wrong.
Lakshmi
devi daily plucked, all the flowers from the pond before its being plucked by
Gajendran, the elephant. Saing the action of Lakshmi piratti, Gajendran felt
sand and worried for it. It cried for this and prayed to the perumal. Hearing
the voice of Gajendran, the perumal ordered Lakshmi piratti not to dedicate the
flowers that is plucked from the pond and instead she has to sit beside him and
should accept the flowers thats being dedicated by Gajendran. Accepting the
words of the perumal, Lakshmi piratti seated along with the Naavaay perumal and
accepted the flowers of Gajendran.
By
performing this Leelai (action of the perumal), the perumal explains that all
the aathmaas in the world should be taken care of. And at the same time, if
anyone doesnt give respect (or) interferes on the bhakti dedication towards
him, they should be teached with a lesson and thereby making them to understand
their fault. Like this same way only, the perumal gives the respect for the
bhakti of Gajendran and at the same time he teaches a lesson for Lakshmi
Piratti by making her to accept the bhakti of Gajendran.
In
this sthalam, the perumal Naavaay perumal is treated as the fater, Lakshmi
piratti as mother and Gajendran is treated as their son. Thus, this sthalam
explains the relationship between the perumal (father) and Lakshmi (mother) and
between the perumal (father) and Gajendran (son).

Sthlapuranam
:
This
sthalam explains about the relationship and the unity of Saivam and Vaishnavam.
This sthalam also tells about the good character.
Kanda
Karan, who is the chief leader of Siva Perumaan's Siva Ganangal (troop (or)
Crew) and had a vulgour actions towards everything. He had a ugly structure and
that fears all person who sees him. He gave Narabali (Killing peoples) for Siva
Perumaan. But, on seeing this, Siva perumaan ordered him not to give Narabali
and asked him to worship the Emperumaan, Sriman Narayanan who is said to be the
"Santha Sorubhee". He also said by worshipping him, he can get the
Mukthi and can attain Paramapadham. On hearing this, Kanda Karnan, who was a
great Veera saivan, changed to Vaishnavan and started to tell the Ashtakshara
Mantram, "Om Namo Narayanaya". At the same time he left worshipped
Siva Perumaan and tied two small bells on his ears to avoid hearing Siva
Peruman's name (or) his mantram "Om Nama Shivaya".
Inspite
of not wanting to hear the mantram of Sivaperumaan, he was really thinking
about him and at the same time he was having the bhakti towards Sriman
Narayanan by expressing the Ashtakshara mantram. "Om Namo Narayana".
By devoting both the Gods, Lord Shivan and Sriman Narayanan, he forgeot all of
his previous actions and started completly to make Dhyanam towards the
perumals. By doing so, he got his mukthi and attained paramapadham. Thus by
getting the mukthi through Kanda Karnan, the perumal explains about the ralation
and unity of both the Saivam and Vaishnavam gods and explains that there should
be no racism among the religion. To explains more about this, in this sthalam
the thiru Neeru (Vibhoodi) is given as the "Prasadham" to the
bhaktas. But, generally Vibhoodhi is given in Saivam temples only. This is one
of the special explaination about the unity and explains that both the Gods
should be treated as one.
In
this sthalam, there lived a good charactered women, by named
"Sankaramangala thenmai". She had a great bhakti towards Sriman
Narayanan and used to do fasting in Ekadesi and after finishing the Viradham
(fasting), she used to give food for any Brahmachari. Likewise, in one Ekadesi
day, she waited for a Brahmachari to give food. But at that time, a demon by
named "Tholakaasuran" lived and she stood as an obstacle for her
viradham and did not allow any persons to get the food from Sankara mangala
Thenmai. She was worried about this and prayed to this sthala perumal,
Kolapiraan. At that time, accepting the request and pray of her, the perumal
came towards her like a Brahmachari to get the food. On seeing him,
Tholakaasuran tried to stop him and fought with him. During the fight,
Tholakaasuran was killed by the perumal who came there in the form of a
Brahmachari.
After,
Tholakaasuran was killed, the perumal in Brahmachari form went inside
SankaraMangala Thanmai's house and started to eat the food offered by her. At
that time, thorugh her Gnana eyes, she found but the perumal has come in the
form of Brahmachari and asked him to move the cloth which screened his chest.
After the cloth is removed, she could see Periya piratti inhis Thiru Maarbhu.
Since, the perumal is so called as "Thiruvaazh Maarbhan". Since, he
came as Brahmachari and showed the piratti, he is also called as "Sri
Vallabhan".
Since,
the perumal gave his presence to explain the good character of a women, the
selva Nayagi, periya piratti is named as "Selva thirukozhunthu
Naachiyaar". Since, the perumal came as a brahmachari, the piratti is also
called as "Vaathsalya Devi".
Behind
the Moolavar, Sudharsana Chakkram, who is said to be so powerful is found. So,
it is great to get the seva of the perumal in front along with Lakshmi piratti
in his chest and behind the perumal, we can worship, the Sudharsana Chakkaram.
Another
special news about this sthalam is, there is one separate sannadhi for
Thiruppaan Alwar, where no ladies are allowed, only gents are allowed into the
sannadhi.
